The History of Hypnosis
The origins of hypnosis go back many, many years as it is one of the oldest therapies used by humans. The Ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks were big believers of hypnotism and they considered it a cure for many emotional as well as physical ailments and disorders. So hypnosis can actually be traced back to more than 6,000 years ago and some people believe it to be even older due to certain cave paintings which appear to depict visions that were seen in an altered level of consciousness, as well as priests in states of trance.
The supposedly first ‘modern’ use of these techniques was by a man called Dr Frantz Anton Mesmer who then called the process ‘mesmerism’, then there followed a long list of others practising mesmerism with quite a lot of public inquiry into the matter. This led to an inquiry by the French government who claimed that mesmerism was fraudulent because it did not function in the way of Mesmer’s first theories about animal magnetism, instead they decided that the therapeutic benefits were actually just down to imagination. Even though Mesmer’s hypnotizing theories about animal magnetism and magnetic vapours were declared as a fraud, scientists carried on studying these techniques.
In the years to follow, the next big name who started to hypnotize people in order to cure problems and diseases was Dr James Braid who accidentally discovered that a person fixating an object could easily reach a state of trance rather than using the mesmeric passes that Dr Mesmer used. In 1841 he published his findings under the name of ‘hypnotism’.
Over the years many more people began to hypnotize people and it started to become a little more main stream and accepted. In the 19th century Sigmund Freud began to use hypnosis but it is thought that he gave it up as he didn’t have the patience that is necessary for hypnosis and was therefore not a very good hypnotist.
In more recent years the benefits of hypnotherapy have become widely used as it can be a great choice for people who want to stop bad habits like smoking or more psychological things like insomnia. Because of stage hypnotists who hypnotize people on stage for the amusement of others started to be shown on television it has become very popular indeed, and so it should as I believe it to be an extremely valuable tool.

Hi, my name is Theo,
I was always a little skeptical about hypnotism, that was until i was able to quit smoking with ease, after years of trying just about every other way to quit with no luck.
Once i realized how powerful and life changing hypnotism can be i decided to learn how to hypnotize people myself, and since then i have been able to live my life to the fullest.
i was starting to think that i could be the only man or women that cared about this, at the least currently i recognize im not odd
i will be sure to go and visit a handful of various threads immediately after i get some caffeine in me, it can be rough to read without my coffee, I was really late last night grinding zynga poker and after downing a few ales i ended up getting rid of all my zynga poker chips adios for now
